Ferdinand is a restaurant & bar nestled in the heart of Hamra, Lebanon. Inspired by the story of Ferdinand the Bull, this hidden gem offers a comprehensive market-driven menu highlighting local flavors with an international flair alongside an inclusive selection of beers and wines.

As part of the pre-opening consultancy, FCC initially came up with the name, concept, identity, menus, staff, ambiance, and design. We then took over the management from 2008 till 2011 since the numbers we forecasted in the suggested business plan were not met, resulting in the takeover of the place in  2015 by Riad and later Walid, both proudly leading FCC.

We then introduced independent projects such as:

  • The “Farm to Bar” program, where we grow, use, and process most of the fruits, herbs, garnishes, grains, and various homegrown and wild ingredients and incorporate them into the Bar menu.
  • We redesigned the basic bar layout known globally and created a much more practical design by changing the Cocktail station into a reach-in freezer and placing GNs on top. This has allowed us to maintain a proper temperature for the juices, syrups, and add-ons, upgrading the Bar quality standards;
  • Theme nights like Malt Mondays (where we serve a flight of three single malts and a beer for an attractive price), Happy Hours, industry nights, guest shifts, and popups.

Head Cook at Ferdinand, Chef Riad’s culinary philosophy in the award-winning gastro-pub boils down to “The Food of Lieu” in addition to an extensive Bar Food Menu featuring Burgers, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Butcher Platters with sausages, ribs, and briskets. Ever since he took over the kitchen at Ferdinand, he has developed a unique, innovative technique, building only on his professional architectural experience while preserving and respecting ingredients.

Eventually, all the above led Ferdinand to be listed as the Best Restaurant in Lebanon on Zomato and Trip Advisor, shortlisted in the top 10 restaurant bars in the MENA region on Tales of the Cocktails, and featured on 50 best Discovery.
